Storm Patterson - Co-Owner/Coach

Since a young age, Storm has been passionate about fitness and considers it a huge aspect of his life. In high school, he competed in every sport imaginable, but mostly focused on track and field. After joining the Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club in 2007, he became a national level sprinter by 2008 in the 400 meter. Upon entering University with a track scholarship, Storm quickly decided that Queen’s Track and Field was not suited for him and joined the Queen’s Rowing team. After competing with the Rowing team for two years, Storm was introduced to CrossFit by his best friend and fellow CrossFit Queen Street coach, Callum Owen. Since then, Storm considers CrossFit the best means of improving one’s quality of life and truly believes that everyone should experience what CrossFit has to offer.

The wide array of skills and weightlifting in CrossFit sparked his interest after struggling to stay motivated in the gym. After trying to teach himself the movements and skills of CrossFit with minimal success, Sean sold his PlayStation to pay for his first month at CrossFit Queen Street. A few months later, Sean received his CrossFit Level 1 at NorCal Crossfit after an impulse trip to San Jose, California in August 2015 and began coaching at Queen Street shortly after. He is excited to share his CrossFit experience and knowledge to help others achieve their goals. Sean enjoys cool socks, pizza, and making a fool of himself.

Lauren has been coaching CrossFit since 2012.  She was a varsity rower for the University of Toronto and began her CrossFit journey in 2010 after looking for a way to add strength work to her rowing training. Lauren was immediately hooked and quickly saw improvements in performance, both in rowing and CrossFit. With a desire to master the Olympic lifts, Lauren took up competitive Olympic Weightlifting and eventually competed in the 2014 Canadian National Championships. CrossFit set Lauren on a life-changing path towards fitness and health and loves waking up every day to coach amazing, hard working people. Lauren moved to Kingston from Toronto in 2016 to start a family and feels incredibly lucky to be joining such a welcoming community at CrossFit Queen Street.

Posy Legge - Admin

Posy moved to Kingston for graduate studies in Art History at Queen's in 2015, but what keeps her here is CrossFit Queen Street. After many years of thinking she was naturally un-athletic, Posy started CrossFit in 2016 and has never looked back. While she loves training and pushing herself in class, what Posy loves most about Queen Street is the kindness of other members, the support of the coaches, and the culture of personal growth that is fostered at the gym. When she is not hanging around the gym, Posy can be found in Ontario Hall working on her research on 18th century French decorative art, volunteering at the Union Gallery, enjoying the outdoors, or doing meal prep at home.

Lindsay has been in Kingston since 2007, completing her BScH and then MSc in geology at Queen's. She started CrossFit in 2016 and quickly fell in love with the challenge of the sport and the community at CFQS. Lindsay's favourite things are tacos and rocks, and her least favourite thing is wall balls.

Morgan Sutherland - Admin

Morgan has been a part of the Queen Street community since here first year at Queen's University and as she moves into her Master's program she is happy to call this her second home. From a young age Morgan has been involved in sports from soccer to rugby. However as injuries stopped her from participating, Crossfit quickly became the perfect outlet for her competitive edge. When Morgan isn't in the gym figuring out excuses to squat for the third day in a row, you can find her at Providence Care Hospital or Botterall Hall progressing through her Neuroscience degree!

RACHAEL HARTLEY - COMMUNITY MANAGER

Photo.JPG

Rachael moved to Kingston at the end of August 2017. She started her Crossfit journey in April 2015 and has never looked back! She fell in love with the community, the WODs, the supportive coaching, and the 'wallballer's high' (similar to a runners high). At a young age she was diagnosed with a type of scoliosis requiring 3 back surgeries and fashioning a very cool back brace; this may have slowed her athletic pursuits, but once she was given the okay she would jump on any opportunity to be active! If Rach isn't at the box she is likely cooking up a storm, as that is her second favourite thing to be doing. After traveling Southeast Asia (summer 2017) and checking out some of the international boxes, she is excited and very happy to call Crossfit Queen Street her home!
